About Community Advocates

WHO ARE WE?

Raffles Community Advocates is a service club in Raffles Institution (Year 5-6) that empowers members to make a change they believe in. It is a platform that allows students to go beyond the call of volunteering with social service organisations and also start advocacy projects to plant seeds of change in the community.

With our hectic day to day life, it is all too easy to overlook a glaringly obvious fact – society has not dealt everyone the same fortunate hand that we have. Here at CA (Community Advocates), we refuse to ignore these injustices, and we do our best to drive a change. This is the essence of CA— Speak, Act, Change.

Student Interest Groups (SIGs)

In order to facilitate these aims, Raffles Community Advocates is composed of 3 Student Interest Groups (SIGs):

D O V E S W A R M

A SIG committed to improving the welfare of migrant workers, and promoting their integration in Singapore.

E M P T Y P O C K E T

A SIG striving to be a voice for change for those living in poverty.

L I F E L I N E

A SIG aimed at fighting the stigma faced by people with physical and mental health conditions.

WHAT ELSE DO WE DO?

Other than volunteering and organising advocacy projects with our respective SIGs, we regularly start our own pop-up projects, where CA members with similar interests form small groups to advocate for an issue that we feel passionate for.

Lastly, there are batch projects, where every CA member comes together to work on an advocacy project that is usually of a bigger scale than the aforementioned projects. This is a time when we can feel a strong sense of camaraderie amongst ourselves, with the entire batch working tirelessly and advocating passionately for the same cause.
